The Cost Of Riso Inkjet Printer

By Rita Hatheway

Riso inkjet printer is is an electrical appliances that makes digital images through propulsion of tiny ink droplets onto a media. They are available in varied sizes that range from cheap consumer versions to larger and highly priced professional types. Printing knowledge was in use long ago and date back in the nineteenth century. These appliances are produced universally by different companies under different trade names. They are connected to computers through a wireless mode for production of documents.

The 2 main technologies in application in modern versions are continuous inkjet abbreviated as CIJ and drop on demand shortened as DOD. Continuous inkjet technique is normally used in commercial marking and coding of products and packages. The technology used involves high pressure pump which directs liquid ink from a reservoir through gunbody and the microscopic nozzle. This produces a continuous flow of ink droplets through plateau-Rayleigh instability.

Piezoelectric crystals produce wave sounds as they vibrate in the gunbodies and breaks the stream of ink at uniform intervals. A range of 165000 to 64000 drop per second can be achieved. The droplets get subjected to electrostatic field that is created through charging of the electrodes as they form. The field differs depending on the degree of deflection required. Charged ink droplets are separated by a single or several guard droplets to lower electrostatic repulsion.

DOD is divided into thermal and piezoelectric. Thermal inkjet printer has print cartridges with several tiny chambers. Every chamber has a photolithograph heater. To eject ink droplets from the chambers pulse current is passed through the heating elements. The ink undergoes rapid vaporization within the chambers to form bubbles which in turn create more pressure propelling ink droplets onto the paper.

Water based inks that contain dyes, glycol, or pigments are widely utilized. It is not expensive to manufacture such inks. The key limitation with aqueous inks is that they are difficult to control once they get into contact with the media. Water inks offer broader color range and most bright colors even though they may not be water-proof hence requiring special coating or lamination after printing. When exposed to sun-light, they have a high probability of fading away.

Compared to other techniques such as laser printing, thermal wax and dye sublimation printing have no warm up time. They can print finer and smooth details through high printhead resolution. Some have high speed printing for faster production of documents. There are also full color and monochrome versions. Special software is needed when dealing with different color mapping in case the printer is connected to a computer.

These devices are however not error-free. They can breakdown because of mechanical problems. They usually consist of microchips which indicate expected ink levels. They at times mislead operators into thinking that cartridge chambers are empty when they are not in real sense. Blocked nozzles are another problem that commonly occur in printers while water based highlight markers can discolor and/or blur documents.

When is need of Riso inkjet printer there are several online retailers that sell it at affordable prices. All makes of printers are available in such stores. More information about them is accessible on their blogs over the internet.
