By Patricia Reynolds

H2O is life! Your body is made up of it and it is a part of the fruits and vegetables you grow. Not only that, you use it for almost everything in your life. From washing your clothes and household items to using it to prepare food for your family. In some areas according to Microbiology LIMS, it can be contaminated, that is why convenient bacteria water testing is essential. Some people don t have clean water to utilize and that results in many infections and illnesses.

There are many illnesses that come with this kind of infections. Such as the following, Dysentery, Cholera, Salmonella, Typhoid Fever, E. Coli and much more. You can get these through drinking it but it is not the only way. You can also get it in food prepared with it, if you bathe in the water it can also get in your system. You must be alert and avoid anything that has to do with it.

Contamination occurs from the surface, H2O that is fresh from the ground might not be contaminated. You need to check if you are being exposed to animal waste or sewage. E. Coli stands for Escherichia Coli which is all the waste found in human and animal intestines. You shouldn t expect to fall ill instantly however as time goes, this can turn into disease. So remember to check your water source.

You might be in a bind trying to figure out if you should drink your H2O or not. Even the slightest suspicion should be taken seriously. When in doubt you should take a sample and send it to a state certified laboratory. It needs to be analyzed so that you can get the go-ahead if something is not wrong. However, you should take any suspicion seriously.

There is another way to find out if your H20 has coliform, a much quicker way. A home kit that will indicate if there us a problem or not in just a few. The recommended one known to to be highly effective, is the Coliform Bacteria EZ Cult 24 Hour Presence/ Absence of Total Coliforms. If the liquid inserted has coliforms it will turn the color blue if not the color will not change.

The kit works in the following way: the coliform infected H2O will look blue underneath the UV light, the one without remains clear. To get the H2O properly checked you need to purchase the kit with a UV light. They are bought separately and do not come bundled up. Fortunately, they are both quite affordable, how much money you save will also depend on where they are bought. Expect to pay $14 for the kit and $8 for the light.

In the event of a flood, you must check your well for coliforms. On a regular day, it might be squeaky clean. However, floods bring about other dirty water from all over. If you find yourself in that situation you need to check your water before you use it. Coliforms grow so you shouldn t wait too long to clean it. You also can t keep cleaning without finding a way for the source.

You need H2O to survive or to continue living. If you notice that something is off with the one you drink, you must act immediately. Get it checked, purchase a kit and you will know for sure. In the meantime look out for symptoms that your body is not well, head to a doctor if necessary.
