Allow Hosted PABX To Restore Company Competitiveness

By Clack Kenneth

Over the years, PABX has enjoyed deserved popularity with businesses. It has offered great functionality and improved telephone usage for companies, and has become the standard for companies which could afford it. While there might have seemed no room for much improvement, in fact hosted PABX is rapidly replacing it throughout the world because of the advantages the new technology offers, although it offers much the same functionality at the moment.

The disadvantage with the older system was that it was expensive. The replacement is extremely cheap, as it does not require any specialized hardware, so that even ordinary households can afford it. Not only that, but your service provider does all the setting up free of charge.

Allied to this change, is the fact that call costs are also much more affordable, which is very useful in a period of rising prices generally. The national telephone provider fought the introduction of VoIP, and cannot compete with these prices. The cost savings available from switching can be used for many other purposes, or simple used to improve the bottom line in tight business conditions.

With this new concept, functionality, apart from internal VoIP links, resides on the hardware of the Service provider, which handles external calls, both local and international, using VoIP technology. The cost of calls has decreased dramatically, and the telephone has become more effective than ever.

From the company point of view, there is no longer any need for capital expenditure on PABX equipment. Everything is now part of running costs, and this simplifies the tax situation and the accounting. While a LAN is needed to handle internal VoIP calls, everything else is becomes the responsibility of the service provider, including maintenance

This new technology had to wait for the provision of fast Internet lines capable of supporting the extra traffic volumes. With the upgrading of the fiber link with Europe it has become a live possibility. Many people with family overseas are already using some form of VoIP technology, so the underlying concept is already largely familiar.

For those companies still using the old system, the cost advantages of hosted PABX should make a decision easy. The potential savings in expenditure are welcome at a time when the economy seems to be stagnating, and cost savings are difficult to achieve. While individuals are likely to remain with the older technology for a while, the costs are likely to motivate a move in this sector as well.
