It is much faster than I thought it was going to be and thus far has handled everything I have thrown at it with ease. If you want to play high end games or develop, then get the Qosmio! Better and larger Touchpad. Buy yours before Toshiba realizes this machine has the best value/price ratio. I installed it and it has worked fine. It is a DDR3 not DDR2 module which is what I think Toshiba sent me.

Let me start off by saying that this was my first ever laptop of any kind. So far everything works except networking (internal and wireless). Still not sure why the networking is having trouble though all the other drivers seemed to work. I realized how with simple upgrades it worked great, was portable, and did everything nicely. I decided I wanted one. I can't think of any complaints. It's not a laptop, it's a netbook.

I had similar problem as one of the other reviewers. Right out of the box and it wouldn't start up.

Once you add RAM and configure it correctly (see cons), it actually becomes very fast. The inclusion of a cut-down MS Office 2010 and Norton 30-day trial is very convenient. You have to sort of pry the card out when you want it out, but if you leave a card docked there, like I do, it's not a problem and it doesn't dangerously stick out the side of the machine when you are putting it into a case. One thing I suggest doing is NOT upgrading to anything higher than Windows 7 Starter unless you upgrade to 2GB of RAM.

With iPad there's a lot of incompatibility issues and requires hassles to download a lot of software just to visit certain sites. For a third of a price of an iPad, I have a very sleek looking gadget that does a lot than I expected. I have a 2 1/2 year old Lenovo Ideapad Y530 model that is incredibly powerful, but it weighs 7 1/2 pounds and only gets 2 hours of battery life, not even close to enough to tote around campus all day; more of a desktop replacement. This Toshiba provides pretty much everything I need for both school, play, and vacations. It's hard to consider dinging it for only 1GB RAM, when that seems standard. I wish they would just raise the price of netbooks $10, throw the 2GB in there and stop messing around. Better and larger Touchpad. Buy yours before Toshiba realizes this machine has the best value/price ratio. The set up was a cinch, and anyone (even a non-computer person) could turn it on, follow the quick set up guide and be playing with it within minutes. Bought this for my dad thinking it would be ideal to Skype with the parents.

The speaker is small, but sounds great to me. The battery has been holding up superbly. Highly recommend for someone who wants an easy travel netbook that's light, portable, and pretty fast. I wouldn't buy if you intend to do a lot of work other than web surfing.

It's plenty loud and sounds fine. I also upgraded to windows 7 home premium, which boosted performance in my opinion. If you're looking for a small compact quality Notebook, Don't let this one get away! I love everything about this new computer. Another highlight of this particular netbook is the screen. It is magnificent for being as small as it is! Again, no noticeable improvements but at least I can change my background. They keyboard is nicely laid out. I put in a second GB but haven't really noticed major improvements, it was fine before but it's nice knowing that it's already there. I also loaded Win7 Home because it was $20.

It saved me from having to watch Vanessa Hudgens in Beastly. Just an aside, I have a bone to pick with Amazon constantly changing prices. Small, lightweight, flexible and cheap were the watchwords. After reading a bunch of reviews, I settled on this Toshiba (including a 2 GB chip upgrade).

I use it mainly to watch Netflix in bed. It works great for other functions too. I was prepared to be underwhelmed, but am pleasantly surprised. I was having a Goldilocks moment - my laptop (also a Toshiba and a great machine) is too big to carry around town or on low/no-work travel, and my Android phone, while it does everything but wash the dishes, is a bit small. With iPad there's a lot of incompatibility issues and requires hassles to download a lot of software just to visit certain sites. For a third of a price of an iPad, I have a very sleek looking gadget that does a lot than I expected.
