Web Security Consulting Sting or Guardian Angel?

By Daniel Turbin

A few of the people may glance at the whole field of net security consulting with a skeptical eye, viewing it as more sting than substance. They may feel that it's just another kind of person with a hand out, looking to gather a payslip for some unsubstantial service to your company that you may not really need .

In my perspective, the folks that think this way have not looked at the statistical data on the topic, or if they have, then they have failed to grasp what they mean. I do not say this to be wicked, but the fact still is that every day, conservative guesses imply that across the planet there are more than four thousand successful hacking attempts made everyday.

More than four thousand. Think about that number for an instant. How long do you really think you have got before they stumble across your business's site? If and when they do ( and again, neither the numbers, nor time is on your side ), how safe is your business?

Have you taken steps to protect your data in the event of a successful hack? Have you taken steps to lessen the damage such an attack may lead to? If not, then you're not only playing with fire, you're playing with the way forward for your business. If you rely on a web foothold in any meaningful way in your daily business activities ( from purchaser relations to direct sales, from collaboration to analyze, and everything between ), then a successful hack will at once impact your operations, and in the overwhelming majority of cases, adversely impact your net result.

Why take chances with that? Why risk your future futilely? Protect your information. If you lack the technical expertise to do it yourself, hire a professional web security expert to guage your company and draw up recommendations, then follow them precisely. You'll be extraordinarily glad you did. These folks have the skills to help. A long way from being trick artists, they may actually hold the keys to your firm's enduring wealth. Let them help you.
