What All Do You Already Know About the Android OS?

By Frank T. Newcrest

If you keep up at all with news in the cellular world, you will know that, in terms of popularity, the Android OS is currently gaining on the Blackberry and the iPhone systems. This is partly because the Android OS is used in a wide variety of phones. This might also be because the operating system itself is constantly being worked on, upgraded and developed which makes it highly competitive against the other smart phone OSes that are on the market. The Android/Google phones are set apart from their smart phone competitors because, unlike the iPhones and Blackberries, the Android phones are available in widely varied styles and types of extensiveness in the software. You might find the following information interesting about the Android and the Google phones.

Making the choice between Android OS phones can be treacherous because of the shear number of phones using this OS. Google phones and Android phones are considered smart phones, this is good news in today's society! The iPhone and Blackberry phones once thought to be the only smart phones on the market now have viable competition! Here are a few more interesting facts about he Android OS.

We found one website that said Google didn't invent Android. We know that Google gets all of the current credit for these phones. Most people even think of them as "Google phones". From what we learned, however, the original creators of the Android OS are Rich Miner and Andy Rubin. It was actually invented in 2003 by these guys who then sold it to Google for a tidy profit. After Google bought the OS it sat on the system for a few years while Google developers worked on it more and get it prepared for use in mobile devices.

You do have options if you hope to be able to purchase music through your Android OS phone. One of the best perks of iPhones is being able to access the iTunes store. You can still have a great deal of access if you have a Google phone. There are a lot of different free music applications available for Android phone users. Others use the music sales websites and stores pretty much the same way that the iPhone uses the iTunes marketplace.

One of the major things that Android phones have over the (incredibly) popular iPhones is that the Android phones can operate more than one application at a time. The iPhone can operate all of its base features at one time: phone calls, music, internet and one of your apps. That is pretty much the extent of its multi-tasking. If you have an Android phone, however, you can run multiple apps at the same time and have no problems.

We can think of a whole bunch of reasons to choose an Android phone over the other smart phones that are being sold right now. Simply put: the Android OS is great! We don't say this just because we're fans; we say it because it is true. Updates are available all the time for the Android OS and, because the system is based on open source technology, anybody and everybody is welcome to develop apps and other features for it. Any day now, the Android phone is going to surpass its smart phone competitors and become the most popular phone available. Soon the Google phone will, no doubt, become at least as popular (if not more popular) than the "traditional" smart phone models.
