By Audie C. Bosco

There are a number of science fiction franchises that have been able to hold on to popularity for many years, including Battlestar Galactica. The first time BG was presented to the TV audience was at the end of the 1970's during a short lived television program that, despite only lasting a brief time, was popular. Although not everyone appreciates the unique concepts of the science fiction genre, there are many fans who love to imagine what the distant realms of the universe and the future of technology may hold for us. The stories of science fiction really come to life for fans of this genre when the people making the games, movies, or television shows use elements of everyday life and attach them to the futuristic worlds they create.

Humans have been attacked and sent away from their home planet in Battlestar Galactica by the Cylon who are actually robot-like people who were made by humans in the past. The plot experiences lots of twists and turns, but what keeps fans interested is the fact that the story is rooted in normal human feeling. The actual stars of BG are not the spaceships used to fight battles or the planets that are visited along the way, but instead the people who are facing very normal struggles in their efforts to survive and to find a new home.

One of the aspects of Battlestar Galactica that has been very exciting for fans is the use of amazing spacecraft including transport vessels and fighter ships. Fans of science fiction are certianly in seeing new ways of imagining travel in space and dogfights between high speed space ships. It is impressive to observe just how creative science fiction writers and artists can get with space flight since in the real world this realm of technology is still at its earliest stages.

Fans that want to truly experience what it would feel like to exist in this kind of science fiction universe can do so by playing video games that use the same characters, worlds, and vehicles found in the television show. It is exciting to get to interact with the characters and fight the antagonists in this way.

Science fiction fans all over the world are quite familiar with the world of Battlestar Galactica as it has earned millions of fans. The story of BG is expanded by means of novels, comics, and video games that let players get into the action of the main story.
