IT Support Performance And Maintenance Software Crashes Guides And Troubleshooting

By Floyd Grant

IT support is always available should you need it. These folk just know how to get a computer running the way it should whether it be to implement a system recovery or just to back up the material you have on your system. These tasks and many others can be learnt by going through the help files on your particular system.

Operating systems are shipped with tools in order to fix and solve problems. This is known as troubleshooting in the world of technology. Troubleshooting performance can be executed quite simply if you know how. For one cleaning up your hard drive and then defragmenting helps improve performance and revives your system from working at a sluggish rate to a more faster one.

Most systems have a disk defragmenter option enabled on the system. What this nifty piece of software does is it rearranges the files in a way that is more accessible to finding them when needed. What happens is that when you work with files whether they be mp3 files, doc files or any files for that matter, the central processing unit has to look for them.

It is a good idea to do this especially when you have downloaded service packs and updates using windows update. As discussed defragmenting your hard drive groups specific files and folders together so that information from them is more easily retrievable. Another way to enhance the speed at which your computer works is to increase the paging file.

One way to do this is to increase the paging file on your computer. This can be done by typing in the words, paging file or virtual memory, in the search section of the help and support feature. Otherwise you can click on computer and then click on properties which will guide you to the paging file option.

It is a temporary storage place that consists of memory cards located on the mother board where they can be found slotted into the board themselves. Space that is used when computing lots of processes at the same time. Your paging file however is located on the hard disk. This exercise can be done quite simply by going to your control panel and clicking on computer then on properties in the drop down menu provided.

Your system will use the paging file automatically when the Ram cards used up. Think of it as extra local storage. What happens is when many calculations are being performed your local memory may run short. This is when the paging file is accessed in order to complete the input given to the computer so that is can carry out what you have asked it to do. Alternatively it is best to install more Ram cards. These can be purchased and slotted into their compartments hidden in the central processing unit. The change is immediately noticeable as you enjoy enhanced speeds at which your processor works.

Once you have entered the recycle bin window there is an option that says, empty recycle bin. This is a good option to use when you have deleted files on your computer as when you delete unwanted files it frees up more space on your hard drive which you can utilize for other uses. These tasks should be scheduled so that they are done automatically from month to month. Many are not able to carry out these tasks and make use of the experts that work in IT support or information technology.
