For the last year or so, my buddies and I have been holding weekly poker games in the basement, and we are kind of snobs about only using the best poker playing cards that money can buy. It started a few years ago when my former college roommate randomly moved down the street from me and we started a game with the poker table top that my friend had discovered stashed in his new basement. We invited a few other friends over and it transformed into a beloved weekly event.
Eventually, we had a solid core of players coming to each game and we were all enjoying ourselves thoroughly. Initially, we were playing with real money, but then some of the guys were ending up in the dog house with their wives after losing too much money, and we were all having more fun playing the game and didn't want to create and hard feelings. We quit playing for money, and were able to enjoy playing the game and enjoy the company and conversation, and that way everyone could play without being scared of losing all their money.
After a time, we started feeling more professional and wanted to have the poker accessories to match, so we started to search for things that would add to our game. My friend Carl mentioned that he had seen some really nice poker chip sets online and we decided to buy some and split the cost so that we could all enjoy them at the weekly game.
After much consideration, we decided on clay poker chips because Max swore that they were head and shoulders above the plastic ones as far as quality and look. We were thrilled with our new chips, so we collected our money again and decided to get some more poker supplies to use in our table top poker. First off, we bought some new decks of cards, since our old ones were getting a little work and some were even ripping a little.
Once we got the cards and have been using them for around three months now, I can testify that they are the best playing cards you will ever find. They are slick and shiny so there's no issues with them sticking to each other and they shuffle perfectly every time. It is so nice to have one night a week where we can get together with the guys and enjoy a stimulating game of poker. I feel like I have been becoming quite the expert, and have been winning nearly every game we play, so I have been considering entering one of those poker tournaments and getting some money out of it.
