Reasons To Buy Cheap Flash Drives

By Kles Fleisher

Cheap flash drives are ideal for storing information. Files such as music, video, and documents can be kept on the drive. This has several benefits and does not need to be expensive.

One major benefit is mobility. Being able to take the files to, and from different computers or work stations can be a great way to transfer files, without going over a network. This is a great way to share fun stuff with friends, or even business information.

If the files contain any delicate or confidential information, there are many different software applications that can secure or encrypt the information. It can also reduce the risk of information stored on a computer that is shared, being viewed by others without authorization. Information can also be leaked if the computer has shared access.

It is also a good idea to back data up on a removable storage device, in case of attack or system failure. Attacks from spyware and viruses can lose data from the system as can a major breakdown, leaving the data unable to be recovered. Using a removable storage device can also free up a lot of space on any hard drive.

There are a number of options available when choosing a device. Price will depend mainly on storage space, more space equals higher price. For a memory stick with a 4GB capacity, prices will start around $3. These are great for storing smaller files, low quality media, and text documents. There are many makes and models on the market to choose from, Lexar JumpDrive, Firefly, Kingston DataTraveler G3 and the Sandisk Cruzer Blade to name a few. All these have good reliability and are quite stable when it comes to the memory. They are also very lightweight and easy to transport for work, study, or just for fun.

Next up from 4GB is 8GB storage, ideal if you are looking to transport more files. These have obviously twice as much storage and range from about $6. Great for bigger files such as small applications, multiple documents or files, and larger music and video files. Good choices for this size would be the V7 USB, the Transend JetFlash 500, and the Kingston DataTraveler Micro, which is one of smallest portable USB sticks in the world. All are ideal for carrying around, look great, and have good usability.

If you are looking to transport large file packages, high quality music and video, and applications, software packages and heavyweight operating systems, a memory of 16GB or higher is ideal. The starting price for these is around $11 and have at least 4 times the storage as a 4GB stick. Again there are many to choose from, including the Intenso Rainbow Line, the Corsair Flash Voyager, and the Best Media Platinum. The size of the memory does not make the drives any heavier, and a modern design and great memory system, make these ideal storage solutions.

Cheap flash drives can be a great solution. They are an inexpensive, light, and reliable way to transfer any file for any reason. They are fantastic for students, friends, and colleagues alike.
