Are Quality Management Standards Important?

By Rizwan Khan

ISO 9000 is meant to help stakeholders meet their clients need ISO 9000 family is a system of quality managing system that is offered by ISO. It deals with basics of quality of management systems. ISO name come from the Greek word isos, that means equal. More than 1,000,000 organizations are certified with ISO 9001 worldwide making ISO 9001among the most commonly used tools of management worldwide.

DO STANDARDS MATTER?

We tend to take for granted that products t and services meet our standards, however when they don't and are of bad quality then we notice. If systems, products and machinery meet good standards it's because they have a set standard. ? Standards matter because they guarantee quality of services and products, safety, reliability, environmental friendliness, and interchangeability at cost-effective costs.

Standards help fair trade between countries, they make supply, producing and development of goods and services cleaner, efficient and safer, spread innovations, help in safeguarding shoppers from unacceptable services and products and supply solutions to Problems.

Standards benefit firms because suppliers offer goods and services that have meet global specs. They help technical trend setters to develop marketable and made products. Shoppers are given a wide choice; standards also help them because they benefit from completion therefore getting goods and services at a better price.

Conformance of services and goods to standards gives consumers assurance that the products are trustworthy, quality and safe.

They help developing nations know the standards services and products are supposed to meet and where to invest their resources.

Global standards make a contribution to standard of living for folk in general because they ensure that products are of a certain standard.

ISO 14001 has common prerequisites for environmental systems while ISO 9001 is for quality management. ISO 9001 is the only one of the ISO 9000 that can be used for compliance assessment purposes. The ISO does not certify organizations itself it has accreditation bodies which have been sanctioned in different countries for authorisation of licensing organizations the 2 bodies charge costs for services provided.

Organizations wanting to apply are considered based totally on their functions, where they're located, services and processes, a list of issues if any is brought to the knowledge of the management, if there is none or they produce a good improvement plan showing how the Problems will get handled they're issued with an ISO 9001 certificate. ISO certificates are rewarded at intervals e.g. Once each 2 years depending on the licensing body.
