Are You Passionate About Your Blog?

By Jennifer Bowers

Most readers know when a blog writer is writing with passion and intent. As a technologically savvy business person, you are blogging to discuss your services and products. Remember you are not blogging to rant and rave about random things - you are blogging to help your business earn profit, so open communication with customers matters much. Blogs used to be simple online diaries, but that isn't the case for you as a business owner. Remember, a blog is a lot of work and if you're not passionate about it you will not succeed. You have to be aware of the sacrifices needed to make things work in your blog.

Most people these days no longer pick up the phonebook or newspaper if they want to look for products to buy - they do a quick Internet search instead. Don't you think it will feel great to find out that your customers found you through your blog? You can bring dynamite ad copy to life with a good blog site that contains more than the usual mailed-in vision-mission statements.

To be a successful blogger, you must have passion. But that's not all you need. Relevant information - that's another important thing you need to make your blog worth visiting. And if you think that research is the only way to achieve this, you are obviously right.

P-A-S-S-I-O-N - that is what it takes to set the foundation of a successful blog. Passion itself is not enough. If you want to get potential customers interested in your site, the information needs to be related to your business. The only way to provide useful information is to do your homework. You have to be ready to research and study about the topic you're writing about. If you'd rather talk about dogs than your products you should not write a business blog. A business-tuned reader will know if you're trying to know more than you do. Be prepared for failure if readers don't find you credible. Without true commitment your blog will become just another casualty of the blogosphere.

When you create real value for your customers they will talk. You can give your customers useful tidbits of info if you blog properly about your products. This makes you look engaging, as well as committed. A good blog will engage your visitors as opposed blatant advertising that just shouts your name. You can use your blog to get valuable insights from your customers, by allowing them to comment and react to your posts. Don't worry if you don't like everything your customers say. And if there may be negative comments, you should use them to your advantage by taking them as a truthful and frank opinion on how you could possibly do things better. Such criticism should be taken as constructively as possible.
