Components of eCommerce Web Design

By Meagan Connelly

When you are running an online business, you will find that eCommerce solutions are critical. In ecommerce design there are actually a few different parts for you to consider. Finding a good company is only part of the battle, and with that being said, let's look at the three different parts of developing a webpage for your business.

Design

The process of design is not simple by any means. What should your webpage look like? What method should you use to implement features? When you view other pages online, you should ask yourself how you are going to meet or exceed the standards that they have set. It will never be easy of course, but it is nowhere near impossible.

Updated technology is very important and should be utilized at all times. Up to date technologies such as Flash and CSS will allow the user to load the page quickly. It should be noted that the only downside to using CSS is that losing the format file will result in a breakdown of the pages themselves. The pages will be accessible, but not aesthetically pleasing. Instead of using this as your excuse to stay away from CSS however, it should be an excuse to take extra precautions.

Web Development

To say the least, your ecommerce web design scheme is going to require a professional touch. Ultimately you will need to ensure that your web designer knows how to not only create a good webpage, but also how to pit it against other companies in the same industry as you. In addition to knowing various languages and protocols, implementing eCommerce solutions will also depend on the designers knowledge of hardware. It is important to build a webpage that meets the modern standard but can be loaded by older computers. Mobile browsers are yet another consideration. Across the mobile platform browsers will differ greatly between devices.

SEO

The last item we will discuss is Search Engine Optimization Traffic can be easily drawn and converted with the right SEO tactics. Through search engine crawlers, pages are indexed properly on the internet. In choosing keywords, ensure you're actually using keywords that pertain to your product or service -- failure to do so can result in delisting.

Your eCommerce solutions will be both complex and simple at the same time, believe it or not. There are plenty of things to take into account when trying to build a brand. You are just one of many sites/companies out there looking for customer attention. Take this to heart and make sure you do not slack on the design process. Before you know it, you will have all the business you need.
