The New IPad Technology - Choosing What Is Right For You

By Heather Eisternam

An iPad is versatile enough to provide use for many people. If you add a keyboard, it can be used for word processing. Use a joystick with it and you have a gaming system. You can even use it in the office to video conference with employees or customers. These tips help bring out the best in your iPad.

If your young children use your iPad to connect to the Internet, it's best to be safe. You can access restrictions from the general settings. Select Enable Restrictions by giving it a tap. This will stop your child from viewing mature content. Adult content in videos, websites and shows will be restricted.

Are you aware that you do not need to use the keyboard on your iPad? That is a great thing for people who have trouble with it. Any Bluetooth keyboard can be connected wirelessly with no problem. This is of great use to professionals and students.

Are you sick of typing all of the time? Try the dictation feature instead. Located on the keyboard is a microphone symbol. Once you have clicked on this you can simply say what you would normally type. Re-click the symbol once you are done. When you double click it, the words change to text, and you're able to change any error you made.

Have ever needed to take a screenshot? It is far simpler than you may have imagined. Push the home button and then push the button that puts your device to sleep. You will see a flash, and the screenshot will have been taken. Every screenshot is saved automatically, so you don't need to save them yourself.

Just open new pages within a new tab to maintain the previous one. When you find a website in Safari, hold your finger on the link. A menu will appear. You can choose to see the link in a second tab this way.

To see what apps are currently running, click twice on the Home screen. This will allow you to see all of the running apps that you have. Use this function to check which apps are running, and close the ones you do not need.

There are two ways to show a PDF. Your options are to place your PDF in your iTunes account to synchronize with your iPad or to e mail your PDF to yourself using your iPad. Try both methods and perhaps you could use iTunes to access PDFs at home and send emails to yourself when you cannot access your home computer.

Decide whether you want the lock key to lock the orientation of your tablet or mute the sound. If you had an older iPad model, you likely know that this is a new feature. You have this option if you are using iOS 4.3 or above. Using the volume button on the side works to mute the iPad, too.

If you are always watching videos using your iPad, a power cord that's longer may be something to look into. This allows you to continue watching video as the device charges without draining the internal battery power.

There are several options for search engines on your iPad. It's easy to change to another search engine. Go to Settings, choose Safari, then choose Search Engine. Pick which search engine you desire. You can choose between Bing, Yahoo and Google.

Taking pictures often means turning the iPad to the side. This will cause the shutter to move slightly and could potentially rattle when attempting to snap a picture. Try to use the orientation lock. This will make it easier for you to hit the shutter button when you go to take a picture. After taking the photo, just use image editor to rotate the videos or images afterward.

Whether you would like to do your homework, talk to far-away friends or play games, the iPad gives you the option of doing all that and more. You just have to know how to use it in the way you wish. Use the information in this article to get the most out of your iPad.
