Awesome Deal - 10.1 Inch Netbook Critique

By Allison Peterson

Find the perfect computer for you and don't settle. There were many disparaging reviews about this Toshiba netbook but I'm very satisfied with it.

Again, no noticeable improvements but at least I can change my background. They keyboard is nicely laid out.

For browsing the internet and watching movies it worked great. Just make sure you adjust the size of the browser text when needed, use the little magnifying glass in the bottom right of screen. It is a perfect size to take along in my purse and is unobtrusive for me to use. I only do simple word processing on it and check e-mail or does simple Internet work. Unfortunately, I cannot rate this netbook five stars for two reasons. YES, I know that this netbook is cheap and part of that is the lack of a full OS.

I would recommend getting a mouse for this netbook if you will be using it frequently, as I think it would add to the productivity/comfort level. The fact that it comes with some basic Microsoft Office programs is great! This means I need lots of music and when I purchased this laptop I did not realize it didn't come with a disc drive, but my boyfriend bought me a portable disc drive and I kind of like it better. I get the best of both worlds a small light weight laptop and then when I need it I pull out my disc drive and I'm all set to import my new cd onto my iPod.

The speaker is small, but sounds great to me. The battery has been holding up superbly. The computer feels very solid, has a nice rubbery top that doesn't fingerprint (not really apparent in the pictures) and a VERY nice keyboard that is better than lots of regular laptops! RAM size could be upgraded so we bought a 2 GB card for $15.00 (non-Toshiba brand from Amazon) which worked fine and sped it up even more. I can't think of any complaints. It's not a laptop, it's a netbook.

Also, like most manufacturers Toshiba comes bloated with a ton of "crapware" you do not need that do nothing but bog you down, took me a while to clean it all up. By the way, Norton is one of the useless programs it comes with, it along with MacAfee suck big time use a free anti-virus like Avira and you will do fine, and save some money.

Plus it has 3 USB ports. Most netbooks have two. I would do it over and over again if given the opportunity. Also, my mother didn't like the idea of the mini laptop because she said I would find it difficult to type and work with, but she was wrong. I realized how with simple upgrades it worked great, was portable, and did everything nicely. I decided I wanted one. It has full size keys. I was able to connect this baby on my big screen TV and I was able to watch streaming movies for free on my big screen.
